In cabinet news this week, the Minister of Health and Wellness, Michel Chebat reported that to date, forty thousand Belizeans have received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which is in line with government’s plan to ensure that seventy percent of Belizeans, who wish to be vaccinated, are vaccinated by September. Cabinet gave its approval for Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government, Oscar Requeña, to develop and execute a National Child Labour Policy to replace the existing 2009 policy. In addition, cabinet also supported the request by the minister to introduce amendments to the Labour Act, Chapter two-seventy-nine of the Laws of Belize and for the ratification of the International Labour Organization Convention.
