Members of the Illinois Republican Party on Saturday picked a former gaming board chief to be the next head of the state party.
Don Tracy, a Springfield attorney who was appointed to lead the Illinois Gaming Board by former Gov. Bruce Rauner, won the backing of members of the state GOP’s central committee.
Tracy was not immediately available for comment.
In a statement earlier this week, Tracy said the “state is in danger” of “becoming a depopulated, left wing, one party, over-taxed, and anti-police financial basket case.”

Honestly, if the Republicans were smart they’d sit back a little bit on this one. Part of me wonders if, without Madigan, the House Dems will start infighting pretty badly. Of course that’s just an observation and speculation…something they should consider if they ever want to try and take those collar counties back.

WASHINGTON U.S. Rep. Mary Miller, R-Oakland, on Friday morning apologized for her comments about Adolf Hitler on Tuesday at a Washington, D.C. Moms for America event.
Miller, 61, was elected Nov. 3 to succeed former U.S. Rep. John Shimkus, R-Collinsville. Her district includes part of Madison County. She was captured on video at the Tuesday event as saying Hitler was “right about one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future.’”
Her comments prompted the creation of a change.org petition by the Illinois Legislative Jewish Caucus seeking her resignation. Nearly 11,000 people had signed the online petition as of 4 p.m. Friday. ....
