NEW film Say Your Prayers, starring Sir Derek Jacobi - which was filmed in Ilkley and is set in the town’s famous literature festival - will feature on the programme of films available to see at Ilkley Cinema when doors reopen on Monday, May 17.
It is about “two orphaned brothers turned radical Christian hitmen” who travel to Ilkley to assassinate a famed atheist writer, a guest speaker at the literature festival.
It was originally scheduled for release on Video on Demand and was then due to screened at Ilkley Cinema last year. It has a 12A certificate.

Ilkley Cinema awarded a grant of £40,398 to help in reopening and recovery


LOCAL independent cinemas are amongst the organisations who will receive cash in the second round of grants awarded as part of the Culture Recovery Fund.
The 12 cinemas in Yorkshire to receive funding include Ilkley Cinema which will get £40,398. The Picture House in Keighley receives £39,598 and the Plaza Cinema in Skipton gets £48,641.
As the first independent cinema to have opened in the region in 46 years, Ilkley Cinema, Ilkley is a significant contributor to Ilkley s cultural scene and has received the Ilkley Business Award for best new business. The cinema offers parent and baby screenings, Silver Screen shows for older audiences, free tickets for carers, and discounted rates for local schools. It also supports local filmmakers with the opportunity to screen their work and participates in festivals including Sheffield Adventure Film Festival and Banff Reel Rock plus other outdoor focused ....

ILKLEY’S artisan past can be traced in a new self-guided walk.
The Winter Heritage Walk can be found on the Ilkley Civic Society website and gives a fascinating insight into a part of the town’s history.
Artisan Town Ilkley is a walk below the railway track including the Railway Town Conservation Area.
The Ilkley Civic Society says: “From the 1867 land sales, land below the railway could be used for business so smaller terraced houses, lodging houses, workshops, smithies and builders’ yards were built.”
The circular walk starts and ends at the Manor House - taking in a wide range of historical sites along the way. ....

It includes a stretch along Weston Road to the blue plaque at the Pinfold -a former pound for stray livestock. When Weston Road was built in the 1870s the old Smithy was demolished leading to the discovery of Roman remains which may have been from baths. ....

More than 200 independent cinemas across England are being supported this Christmas with £16 million in grants from the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund.
201 cinemas have received funding so far from a £30 million pot allocated by the British Film Institute (BFI), on behalf of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, as part of the biggest ever single investment in this country’s cultural sectors.
