The village board voted unanimously Monday to approve Ilion’s 2021-2022 fiscal budget. This year s budget comes in at just under $7.3 million which is a 1% decrease from the previous year.

A complaint filed by a former village employee led to the probe which has left the department without a chief Tom Pedersen had held the position since 2019 and one of its firefighters, Mike Conover.
The village Thursday morning denied a request for a copy of the complaint filed under the Freedom of Information Act on the basis that there is an investigation in progress. The Times Telegram has requested an opinion on the denial from the state Committee on Open Government.
Three deputy chiefs are currently in charge of the fire department, according to the mayor, and the village board approved a memorandum of understanding with the city of Little Falls during its March 13 meeting to have Little Falls Fire Chief Rob Parese assist the department on a part-time basis in exchange for Ilion Village Treasurer Marijo Rice helping the acting treasurer in Little Falls.
