No fewer than four military men have been feared killed in another attack on security men in Rivers State.
The incident happened at Omenema community in Abua Central, Abua/Oduah Local Government Area of the state on Sunday evening.
This came less than 24 hours after unknown gunmen killed eight security operatives on Owerri-Port Harcourt road.
In another development, there was pandemonium on the Igbariam campus of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Anambra State, yesterday, as students and residents ran to safety, following the alleged killing of nine persons and 23 cows by gunmen. ....

Sylva betrayed Niger Delta region over IoC's relocation comment - Group

The Niger Delta ethnic group, Ikwerre People’s Congress (IPC) has condemned what they described as “spurious and puerile representations” made by the Minister of Petroleum (State) Mr. Timipre Sylva where he stated that the International Multinational Oil Companies cannot relocate their headquarters to the Lower Niger region.
Sylva had at an event over the weekend told the International Multinational Oil Companies not to relocate their headquarters to the Lower Niger for security reasons.
But reacting through a statement on Tuesday, which was signed by the Convener of the group, Livingstone Wechie, it accused the Minister of emboldening oil companies to cheat on the region. ....

The Ikwerre Peoples Congress (IPC) has raised the alarm over what it described as “the spate of violence that is currently being perpetrated in parts of Old Eastern Nigeria”.
The group in a press statement signed by its convened, Livingstone Wechie, noted that the developments have resulted in the armed and violent attacks on security formations in some of the Eastern States “and this is very unacceptable”.
In part, the statement reads thus; “We have been monitoring the Ikwerre is one of the largest ethnic nations in Africa and as critical stakeholders, we are duty bound to speak up because Nigeria cannot to be a threat to Nigerians. ....

Rivers elders, youths disown Dokubo's Biafra NEWS

Kinsmen of the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, elders and youths from the Niger Delta have distanced themselves from the declaration of Biafra by ex-agitator Alhaji Asari Dokubo.
The kinsmen of Wike under the auspices of the Ikwerre Peoples Congress (IPC) said Asari’s proclamation was an abuse of his fundamental human rights, describing his inclusion of Ikwere and the Niger Delta as part of Biafra as vexatious.
The convener, IPC, Livingstone Wechie, said: “For the records, Ikwerre is an independent ethnic nation in Nigeria with a global spread and Ikwerre are not subservient to any other ethnic block whatsoever and under any guise. This is in respecting the status of Ikwerre as one of the largest ethnic nationalities in Nigeria on record undisputed. ....
