Killing of ESN commander, Ikonso Don disastrous – Ohanaeze

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has described the killing of a top commander of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, Ikonso Don as a disaster.
This was contained in a statement by the Secretary-General of the organization, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
He said the killing had made Ikonso a martyr and further worsened the tensed security situation in the Southeast zone.
Isiguzoro while questioning the circumstances surrounding the killing of the IPOB member, declared that “we have taken time to study the entire situation before issuing this statement and we feel that many questions are left unanswered.
“There are strong counter claims that Ikonso was not killed during a gun duel contrary to the statement by security agencies. And our question is: why kill a man you have taken captive? Why did they not arrest and prosecute him in a court of competent jurisdiction? ....

Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, Catholic Priest and Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, has accused the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma of organizing the killing of Imo State residents.
Mbaka said although he does not support terrorism, he stands against killing and labeling innocent youths of the country as ‘terrorists’.
He opined that the recent jail break in Imo State could be God’s way of releasing his people from prison.
Mbaka also wondered why the killing of a top commander of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, Ikonso Don was being celebrated.
The Cleric further warned the leaders to kill poverty, unemployment and insecurity, because God is angry with them, adding that those advising Uzodinma have killed him while he is still alive. ....

An Imo State resident and supporter of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) alleged to have leaked information leading to the killing of IPOB commander, Ikonso Don, has appeared in a video to deny the allegation, saying he and the deceased were brothers.

Daily the news emanating from the oriental part of Nigeria is frightening if not sickening. The so-called unknown gunmen are terrorizing state institutions and officials. Prisons are being ransacked and burnt down with inmates, including heartless hardened criminals, freed. Police stations are being invaded and officers on duty killed. And arms and ammunitions looted.
