Town boss Mick McCarthy held up his hands and admitted that his Blues were beaten by a better Watford side after goals from Ikechi Anya and Nathaniel Chalobah saw the Hornets to a 2-0 victory at Portman Road.

Town gradually came more into it but the Hornets sealed the victory through 18-year-old Chelsea loanee Chalobah with 18 minutes remaining.
David McGoldrick netted Town’s first penalty of the season, but Troy Deeney equalised as the Blues drew 1-1 with Watford at Portman Road. McGoldrick put Town ahead in the 73rd minute after Gabriele Angella had handled, but Deeney hit back nine minutes from time.
