The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two more suspects in connection with the protracted bloodletting and destruction of houses and other property worth millions of naira in Oruku community in the Nkanu East Local Government area of Enugu State. Security sources told SaharaReporters that the two people arrested were involved in the burning of scores of houses in the troubled community since December 26, 2020, after the gruesome murder of the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Emmanuel Chidiebere Mbah. ....
An Enugu State Magistrate Court sitting in Enugu North has remanded 46-year-old Inspector Daniel Dennis and one Mr Moses Nnamani for allegedly killing the late Igwe Emmanuel Mbah of Oruku community. Oruku community in the Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State was thrown into chaos again on Wednesday morning as a group of militants allegedly burnt 10 houses belonging to another group in the community. Among the houses burnt on Tuesday and early hours of Wednesday was that of the murdered traditional ruler, Igwe Emmanuel Mba; former local government chairman, Hon. Ejike Ani and his younger brother, Agozie Ani. SaharaReporters also gathered that the warring group also shot and killed one man on Christmas Day in his house. ....
Some gunmen have reportedly attacked Aguikpa community in Nkanu East local government area of Enugu State, killing two persons. Aguikpa is one of the autonomous communities that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi created from crisis ridden Oruku community in an attempt to create peace but later abandoned the community to their fate. The victims were identified as Ikechukwu Nnamani, a former President General of the crisis-torn Oruku community and one Ndubuisi Nnamani, a native of Aguikpa community. ....
