Review: San Diego Rep's 'Nicholas, Anna & Sergei' is more cinema than theater

A year ago this month, San Diego Repertory Theatre presented a theatrical experiment by regular performer Hershey Felder, where the popular playwright/pianist/actor Hershey Felder livestreamed himself performing a solo play from his home in Florence, Italy.
That marked the debut of what became Felder’s “Live From Florence” production company, which over the past year has presented a season of eight plays with music that concludes this week with “Nicholas, Anna & Sergei.” The film, about the life and music of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, premiered Sunday and is streaming on demand for $55 through Sunday at sdrep.org. ....
