IGR: Edo govt tasks MDAs on automation

BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government has tasked Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to key into the automated Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) system now operational in the state.
The charge was given by the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq, at a two-day training workshop on Electronic Treasury Receipt and MDA Certificate Approval, organized by the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) for Permanent Secretaries, Directors and Heads of Revenue drawn from various MDAs in Edo State.
Okungbowa, who was represented by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr. Lucky Wasa, stated: “Edo State Government is ensuring that all MDAs key into the automation programme that will no doubt curb leakages in IGR collection.” ....

Edo govt moves to cut waste, digitizes treasury receipts, tax clearance certificates, others

BENIN CITY – To deepen the ongoing institutional reforms and digital transformation in Edo State, the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has deployed digitized Treasury Receipts, Motor Vehicle Registration Documentation, Tax Clearance Certificates (TCC), Approval Certificates and Business Permits across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Mr. Igbinidu Inneh, disclosed this when he hosted his counterpart from Niger State who was in Benin City on a knowledge sharing and peer learning visit.
Inneh said with the introduction of the e-Treasury Receipts, all MDAs can now deliver receipts directly to people transacting with government from anywhere in the world via e-mail at the click of the button. ....

Edo State Government, at the weekend, met with over 15 host communities and stakeholders to strengthen ties and build stronger relationships ahead of the completion of the Benin River Port.
Chairman of the project, Greg Ogbeifun, who spoke at an engagement session in Benin City, said the port is a legacy project of the Governor Godwin Obaseki administration, designed to key into the Federal Government’s economic diversification drive from oil into agriculture and agro-allied business.
Ogbeifun, who disclosed that the governor had approved the engagement of CPCS Transaction, a consortium of specialist firms from Canada, Belgium and Nigeria to provide transaction advisory services on the project, said the project would be developed through Public Private Partnership (PPP). ....
