Sunday Igboho goes underground, whereabouts unknown as DSS search begins
There are strong indications that wanted Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has gone underground following a manhunt for him by the Department of State Services for allegedly stockpiling arms to destabilise Nigeria. Investigations revealed that the whereabouts of Igboho, a lead figure in the separatist agitation for the Yoruba Nation, is also unknown to his associates. Some of his associates, who spoke with newsmen on condition of anonymity, said they had not been able to reach him since the DSS launched a manhunt for him on Thursday night. ....
The Department of State Services (DSS) Thursday night confirmed that its operatives carried out the raid on the house of Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, (a.k.a Sunday Igboho) in Soka area of Ibadan in the early the hours of Thursday. At a press briefing in Abuja, the DSS also confirmed that two of Igboho’s men died in the exchange of gunfire while a DSS operative was shot on his right hand. (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Department of the State Security Service (DSS) has confirmed that its operatives stormed the home of a leader of the Yoruba separatist group, Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a. Sunday Igboho, in Ibadan in order to arrest him. Addressing journalists at the headquarters of the SSS on Thursday, Peter Afunanya, the service spokesperson, said 13 suspects, including a female and 12 males, were arrested. Mr Afunanya added that many items like AK-47 guns, 500 rounds of ammunition, pump action guns, international passports were recovered even as 13 people were arrested and bundled to Abuja for prosecution.
