In a press briefing in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Tuesday, CIDG chief, Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat, said suspect Edward Diokno Eje, alias Vaughn Vincent, was collared when police responded to a complaint that he poked a gun at a motorcycle rider following an altercation along 31st St. in Bonifacio Global City at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Eje purportedly introduced himself as an employee of the Office of the President and even presented an identification card purportedly issued by Malacanang. During verification, CIDG operatives saw in plain view a firearm of undetermined caliber from the compartment of the passenger's seat without pertinent documents, resulting in his arrest. MANILA - Three most wanted persons (MWPs) were arrested in a recent series of arrest warrant operations, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported on Thursday. In a statement, CIDG chief, Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, said the suspects Jonathan Mandap, Mario Baquelta, and Elmo Gumalog were arrested during simultaneous "Oplan Pagtugis" operations on Sept. 20. Mandap and Gumalog, the top fugitives of the provinces of Pampanga and Pangasinan, respectively, were arrested for charges of rape with no bail recommended and acts of lasciviousness with a bail of PHP200,000. Baquelta, Cebu City's top fugitive, is also wanted for rape with no bail recommended. Lee said the arrested individuals are now being held in their respective arresting field units awaiting the issuance of a commitment order from the issuing court. In a statement on Friday, CIDG chief, Maj. Gen. Eliseo DC Cruz, said the entrapment against Maria Fe Carpina Doringo, releasing and receiving officer at the LTO Novaliches District Office, stemmed from the complaint filed by Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) representatives. ARTA alleged that Doringo has been facilitating the release of Student Permits and Driver's License transactions in exchange for money. Cruz said operatives of the CIDG Quezon City Field Unit, together with ARTA representatives, launched an entrapment on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of Doringo. Vicente Danao Jr., to crack down on operators who continue to flout the suspension order of President Rodrigo Duterte on e-sabong operations in the country. Maj. Gen. Eliseo DC Cruz, CIDG chief, has ordered a full swing police operation against e-sabong immediately after receiving reports that online sabong still exists and operating.
