Idaho Legislators Say No to Protecting the Public It looks like they re a lot of Idaho legislators that like illegal drugs. Oh, Kevin Miller, that s another inflammatory statement by you! You might be correct, but how else can you explain the recent vote by the Idaho Legislator to vote down a constitutional amendment that would keep all drugs currently illegal, permanently illegal. The Idaho Press reports the House said no to the constitutional amendment HJR4 42-28. You can read the same chorus of lawmakers demanding that Idaho legalize medical marijuana. The Idaho Citizens Coalition will be making a big demonstration at the statehouse on 4/20/21. Once again, Idahoans will hear the refrain about the need to legalize medical weed. ....
Dear Editor: Stopping over in Ontario, I was grateful to read a copy of the Sunday Argus Observer. Affordable housing is a national crisis, good to see local action being taken. (âAffordable housing project to have 70 unitsâ by Leslie Thompson, The Argus Observer, March 28, 2021) There is movement right now in Congress to have solutions to the housing crisis be a part of the Build Back Better infrastructure package. The Argus also gives us the way to help make this happen, listing the contacts for Oregon and Idaho Lawmakers on page A4. By calling and writing our members of Congress, asking them to include solutions to the housing problem, we can be a part guiding our government to deal with equitable legislation that helps all Americans. ....
Idaho Smoking Age Changing from 18 to 21 Last year President Donald Trump signed a law changing the federal tobacco sales age from 18 to 21. Here in Idaho, earlier today, The House Health and Welfare Committee approved a measure to bring Idaho up to that standard to match the federal smoking age. Most Idaho stores are already following the federal law and only selling smoking products to individuals over the age of 21. However, The House Health and Welfare Committee say that the state law needs to be updated to match the federal law so there is no confusion or gray area for stores, individuals and law enforcement. This would not, even though there was some confusion, have any affect where adults are able to smoke in Idaho. This just has to do with the age requirement. ....
