A look back at the stories that made the news in the Blue Mountain eagle in 2023.
This month-by-month retrospective covers a wide range of topics, from rodeo queens to fighting bulls, political tussles to acts of charity, the Grant County Fair to the Blue Mountain Hospital.
The Grant County Fair & Rodeo was held in John Day Aug. 4-12 and featured the Idaho Cowboys Association Rodeo, the Grant County Junior Rodeo, musical artists, 4-H and FFA animal shows, activities at the Family Fun Center, and a number of vendors. This year’s big concert was headlined by Josh Turner, with Alana Springsteen opening the show.
The Grant County Fair Parade was held on Aug. 12 and went down Canyon Boulevard to downtown John Day, then west on Main Street to Timbers Bistro. Leading the way were Grand Marshal Tinka Oliver and the Grant County Fair Court: Queen Laramie Kiser and Princess Lavina Kiser.
