Easter: FRSC apprehends 5,630 offenders, impounds 3,205 vehicles

Abuja, April 9, 2021 The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it covered 1, 575 routes, impounded 3,205 vehicles, and apprehended 5,630 offenders for committing 6,880 offences during the Easter special patrol from March 31 to April 7.
The Corps also recorded a total of 103 road traffic crashes (RTC) as against a total of 200 in the same period in 2019 representing 14 per cent decrease.
The Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Bisi Kazeem, said this in a statement made available to Naija247news on Friday in Abuja.
Kazeem said the Corps also arraigned 87 offenders in mobile courts, convicted 79 with option of fines and sentenced one to prison, during the easter celebration. ....

Cross River urges Nigeria, Ghana synergy against irregular migration

Accra, Feb. 26, 2021 The Cross River State Government has suggested a synergy between Nigeria and Ghana through legislations for the two countries to interface on the protection of rights of migrants.
Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River stated this in a message to the maiden Africa Migration Summit organised by JIFORM and Nekotech Centre of Excellence on Friday in Accra, Ghana.
Ayade, who represented by the Director General, Migration Control Agency, Cross River State, said that the Migration Control Agency was tasked with the responsibility of addressing the negatives and exploiting the positives of migration.
This he said was in partnership and collaboration with local, national and international partners in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the National Policy on Migration within and outside the state. ....

Correctional Service to train inmates on garment, shoe making

Abuja, Jan. 13, 2021 The Controller General, Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) Mr Ja’afaru Ahmed, says the service is set to train inmates on shoes, garments and leather works.
Mr. Chuks Njoku, spokesman of the Service, said this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the Controller General said at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by NCoS with a private entrepreneur that the training would be on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
He said the first phase of the engagement would be the shoe and garment factory at Aba Custodial Centre and the Leather Factory at Janguza Custodial Centre, Kano State. ....
