Uttarakhand Forest Fires: The ongoing firefighting operation in Uttarakhand s forests, aided by an Indian Air Force helicopter, continued for the second day. Eight new forest fires were reported, consuming 11.75 hectares of land.
The forest fires are gradually being controlled with the flames already doused in many areas. The fires in Marora and Khanana civil areas in Maniknath range of the Narendranagar forest division have been completely extinguished, officials said.
"One ALH MK III helicopter of IAF, on routine training mission from Bhopal to Chakeri, carried out a safe precautionary landing, near the Dungariya Dam, 50 km from Bhopal Airport. No harm or injuries reported," a Central Air Command statement said.
Choppers belonging to the Western Air Command carried out over 50 sorties over the last 48 hours, rescuing over 780 citizens in the flood-affected areas of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, Indian Air Force officials informed on Wednesday.
