The Telangana government has ordered a judicial investigation into alleged engineering lapses in the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project on the Godavari river. The project, worth ₹1 lakh crore ($13.5 billion), has suffered damages including sinking pillars and leaks. The government estimates the financial burden on the state due to the project to be ₹15,000 crore ($2 billion) per year, with ₹10,000 crore ($1.3 billion) in pending bills.
