15 march 2021 10 december 2007 Namibia is set to see the opening of a new uranium exploration mine in early 2011. This comes after mining focused exploration company, Extract Resources. The Husab Uranium Project located 40 km east of the coastal town of Swakopmund in the Erongo Region. Speaking at a handing-over ceremony early last week, Managing Director of Extract Resources, Peter McIntyre, said Namibia is known worldwide for its high quality uranium deposits. “Namibia is the second best place for mining companies to do business in, one step behind Sweden which is ranked first,” said McIntyre. Since Extract Resources received an Exclusive Prospecting Licence from the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the company has done extensive drilling work as well as a Scoping Study, which has confirmed the economic viability of the low-grade high tonnage, open-pit and acid leach project.
