Outspoken former Stockton councillor will defend seat in May after being booted off council


A FORMER councillor kicked from his seat for failing to turn up to enough meetings intends to stand again in May. 
Andrew Stephenson was automatically removed from his post representing the Western Parishes on Stockton Council in September after breaking the “six month rule”. 
But the outspoken former Conservative has revealed he will stand as an independent in his home ward at a by-election on May 6. 
The Western Parishes ward – covering Long Newton, Elton, Redmarshall, and Stillington – hasn’t had a Stockton Council representative for more than five months.
Its voters will go to the polls on May 6 alongside elections to appoint a new Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner and the Tees Valley mayoral contest.  ....
