Earlier this week, he got more bad news.
One of his last remaining hopes for financial help from the government died Monday when the Pensacola City Council declined to take up the issue of whether to allocate money to remove two sunken boats, including Tran s, from a small harbor behind Joe Patti s Seafood. The council can always change their minds. But at this point, they felt like there was no way for us to recoup our money, said City Administrator Keith Wilkins.
Wilkins had suggested the council consider an add-on item to its agenda Monday for a budget amendment to remove the two boats for $200,000. Councilors declined to vote on any budget amendment effectively killing the proposal after learning the vessels did not present an immediate harm to the public and it was unlikely that FEMA would reimburse the city.
