These locations, also some thunder and lightning starting to occur in some of these thunderstorms. One thing to note is we do have a Flash Flood Warning in effect for two counties in Southern California, again, just because of the amount of rain that has already fallen, and in anticipation of the amount that is expected to fall over the next 48 hours. We also have flood watches, all of the green you see for numerous states in anticipation of all of that rain that is expected to fall in the coming hours. The storm is expected to weaken further as it really pushes into colder waters in the next 24 to 48 hours. When it finally pushes into california, it will be a Tropical Storm, so, yes, the winds, the overall winds of the storm are going to weaken significantly, but the overall forecast in terms of rainfall really has not changed. We will really start to see a lot of the heavy rain really begin to filter into the area by tonight, especially overnight hours. This will continue off and on

Hello, everyone. Thank you so much for joining me. Im fredericka witfield. The southwestern u. S. Is bracing for potentially catastrophic flooding as hurricane hilary churns off the pacific. We just learned moments ago that the storm has weakened just a bit to a category 3 storm with 125 mile an hour winds. Its lashing mexico with strong winds and high waves right now. Forecasters warn it could dump more than a years worth of rain across parts of california, nevada and arizona. The storm is expected to weaken as it moves north, but the threat is so severe, a Tropical Storm watch has been issued for california, the first ever for that state. People there are trying to prepare as best they can. Cnn meteorologist Allison Chinchar is joining us. A new advisory has just been issued. While it may have been downgraded a little bit, thats still very threatening. Right. Keep in mind the weakening was forecast. We knew as it slid into cooler waters, this was going to happen. In terms of the fore

In just over four days, the fires have burned roughly 2,000 acres, and have destroyed more than 1,000 buildings. These are images from the Historic Town of lahaina, which was hardest hit. Local officials are allowing residents and tourists back into the town, but a nightly curfew is in place. We are now beginning to learn about the harrowing stories of survivors like this one, where one family was forced tojump into the ocean to escape the flames. The ocean almost dragged my kids away a few times. But, yeah, we stuck together, we held on. I said, were not going to die, and were here, were alive.
