13 New COVID Cases Confirmed, 1 New Hospitalization

Public Health today reported 13 new COVID-19 cases and one additional hospitalization, a person in their 40s who had not been vaccinated.  In the last week, two local residents, one in their 60s and one in their 70s, have died due to the virus.
Today s case results came after laboratories processed 224 samples with a test-positivity rate of 5.8 percent. According to a state database, nine people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 locally, including one under intensive care.
The Joint Information Center also reported that two previous cases have been removed from the county s county, with one being a duplicated and the other a false positive. A hospitalization was also removed after it was determined that  their admitance was unrelated to the virus, although they did test positive. ....

Prepare to shout your good-natured post-pandemic heckles through a red and blue mask. Humboldt is going to have a summer after all.
On Wednesday night, the Humboldt Crabs added to the wave of promising local news with their announcement that, yes, there will be a 2021 season and, yes, you will be allowed to watch it in person at the Arcata Ball Park when said season kicks off in two months. 
“We are beyond excited to announce that Humboldt Crabs baseball will return on June 4!” reads the excited post on the Crabs’ official website.  “Though there is much to still be worked out, our re-opening plan has been approved, and the team expects to be able to play a full, two-month season, starting the first weekend of June.” ....
