Savannah’s newest mural is going to the dogs.
“Better Together,” designed and donated to the Humane Society for Greater Savannah (HSGS) by the artist pair of David Laughlin and Marcee Musgrove with paint provided by the Savannah College of Art and Design, covers a 7’ x 20’ wall on one end of a field adjacent to the shelter, where animal lovers can play with their newly adopted fur babies for the first time.
“I am grateful to have been asked to give my artist talents to add to a great environment during this important time for families,” said Musgrove of the project.
As the weather gets warmer, it’s natural to crave a fresh start. Why not give that to someone who needs it the most? If you’re in the market for a new pet, consider adoption from a local animal rescue or foster service.

Coastal Pet Rescue has teamed up with Fleet Feet and the Savannah Kennel Club for a night of pups, socialization and exercise. The walking event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Fleet Feet, 3405 Waters Ave.

On an overcast Tuesday morning, the staff of Wormsloe Historic Site welcomed their newest teammate, Kim, a five-year-old Sheppard mix. Kim, on loan from the Humane Society as part of “Dogs with Jobs,” will work for the day as a Bark Ranger.
Her task? To get adopted.
The Humane Society for Greater Savannah launched a new adoption program “Bark Rangers, which happens every other Tuesday at Wormsloe Historic Site. The next Bark Ranger reports for duty on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
“You can’t get a much better partnership,” said Wormsloe site manager, Gretchen Greminger. “The dog gets to spend a day in the woods, and we get to hang out with a fun, four-legged friend. The dog socializes outside of the kennel and gets to release some pent up energy.”
