Rabies cases are on the rise in Kashmir, with cats also becoming a concern. Rabies is a viral disease that attacks the nervous system, causing aversion to water and light, muscle contractions, and eventual cardiac arrest. Recent dog attacks have raised awareness, with thousands of reported animal bite cases. Prompt treatment, vaccination, and responsible waste disposal are crucial in preventing rabies. Sterilization and vaccination programmes are essential for curbing the disease, but proper infrastructure and public cooperation are needed.
