It was another busy week for the Orlando Solar Bears, as the 2020-21 regular season winds down.
The team began the week hanging on to the fourth and final playoff spot in the ECHL’s Eastern Conference, with South Carolina and Jacksonville closing in behind them.
After taking five out of eight points this week - thanks to two late third period rallies - the team is getting closer to seeing that “X” next to their name.

ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades (34-17-2-2) came out on top 6-5 in overtime Friday night at Hertz Arena, defeating the South Carolina Stingrays (24-19-10-3) on a breakaway goal by their captain John McCarron at 1:08 of the extra session after a wild end to regulation that saw both teams score in the final minute of play.
South Carolina’s captain Andrew Cherniwchan led his team in defeat, scoring twice and adding an assist, while Brett Supinski had a goal and an assist for the second straight game and Mark Cooper picked up two helpers.

This week, the Orlando Solar Bears once again faced a familiar opponent in intrastate rival Florida, who boasted the second best record among the 14 active ECHL teams going into a three-game series this week. Although the Solar Bears ended up on the short end of the series, dropping all three games, a new top line may have emerged.
