Obituary: Doris Doctor


Doris Doctor, formerly of Cincinnati, was born in 1923 in Tubingen Germany, the daughter of Adolph and Hannah Bernheim, sister of John Bernheim, who all preceded her in death. Her parents and brother received affidavits through their cousin Ruth Bernheim, the granddaughter of Issac Mayer Wise.  Doris was able to join them in Cincinnati by January of 1940. She attended night school at Hughes High School and received her high school diploma.  She moved to New York City, met her husband, and returned to Cincinnati to start a family and build their lives together. 
Doris and her husband Bernard were co-founders of Temple Shalom.  She was involved in many volunteer activities including singing in the Temple choir, president of Lilah Chapter of Hadassah; serving as a docent at Hebrew Union College and the Cincinnati Art Museum; working at the Krohn Conservatory, and visiting the elderly.  ....

Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted made a stop in Cincinnati on Monday morning to kick off In-Demand Jobs Week, stopping at the University of Cincinnati and Hughes STEM High School.
Census data from 2020 showed a drop in population in Ohio and as a result, the state became one of seven states losing a House of Representative seat. Husted said he hopes the answer to growth could be found in Cincinnati. ....

Ann and Al Hill sit on the front porch of their home in Kennedy Heights on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The couple met at Hughes High School. Al went to Vietnam, and Ann sent care packages with letters and baked treats. The couple got married when he returned. They raised two daughters, Crystal and Rhonda. In 1993, Ann and Al started fostering teenage girls. They have been foster parents to 100 girls. Al said, We made our home for everybody. They remain in contact with some of the women. ....

CINCINNATI (FOX19 - The special prosecutor investigating whether to criminally charge five current and former Cincinnati City Council members over their text messages says one of them, Wendell Young, rejected a plea deal.
“He did reject a plea deal. I can’t tell you what that plea deal is, but he can do whatever he wants. He rejected a plea deal. That’s sort of accurate,” Patrick Hanley said. ....
