Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday held a farewell meeting with Hubert Knirsch, the outgoing Ambassador of Germany to Georgia, with the officials discussing relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Giorgi Vashadze, the leader of the Strategy Agmashenebeli opposition party, on Wednesday welcomed the ending of the diplomatic mission of Hubert Knirsch, the German Ambassador to Georgia, while saying he hoped working with the next head of the Embassy would be “much more interesting” for the party.
Hubert Knirsch, the German Ambassador to Georgia, on Sunday welcomed the Georgian Government’s initiation of work on a strategy to fulfil the 12-point conditions outlined by the European Council for granting the country the European Union membership candidate status, and said “all parties” should work in unison to overcome the polarised domestic political environment.
Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Tuesday said Germany was providing the country with “significant support” from the “very first day” of the recognition of Georgia’s independence three decades ago.
Georgian scholar and expert translator Aleksandre Kartozia has been awarded the Order of Merit of Germany, with the honouring from President Frank-Walter Steinmeier revealed on Wednesday.
