In May, Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. is organizing a district-wide effort for citizens and himself to take part in cleaning up the roadsides, beaches, and parks across Eastern North Carolina. Murphy s staff released the news, encouraging participation in Spring Clean The East .
Attempted last year, the project was struck down due to COVID-19 lockdowns. Murphy explained in his email to the media that the problem is now too dire and is moving full steam ahead this year.
“While driving through the district my wife Wendy and I noted how our beautiful eastern North Carolina has a significant roadside trash problem, and we felt the need to address it,” said Murphy. “I brag in D.C. that we have the most beautiful district in the country and frankly, given the trash problem we have, it is hard to keep saying that.
