IPK researchers identify a key player in chr

<p>The nuclear matrix, identified as a nuclear fraction in eukaryotic cells providing a supporting scaffold for chromatin, has been a known structure in plant nuclei for decades. However, understanding how the nuclear matrix influences chromatin status in plant nuclei has remained largely unknown. For the first time, an international research team led by IPK Leibniz Institute identified the genome-wide distribution of regions attached by the nuclear matrix in plants. It explained the role of the nuclear matrix-associated protein AHL22 as a conductor for chromatin and epigenetic regulators. The results were recently published in the journal &ldquo;Nature Communications&rdquo;.</p>
