A majority of DuPage County’s municipalities did not respond to a request regarding their stance on accepting funding for the resettlement of undocumented immigrants. The non-responsive municipalities, as reported by DuPage Policy Journal, include Lemont, Bartlett, Wheaton, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Lombard, Carol Stream, Hanover Park, Addison, Woodridge, Glendale Heights, West Chicago, Westmont, Lisle, Bloomingdale and several others.
Glen Ellyn Village President, Mark Senak, has called for a Special Meeting of the Village Board on Feb. 26 to address the community's stance on permanently resettling undocumented immigrants in Glen Ellyn. Senak emphasized that the decision lies with the Village Board and underscored the importance of their collective input in determining the village's position.
In DuPage County, numerous municipalities have declined to respond to a DuPage Policy Journal inquiry concerning their policies on illegal immigration. Municipalities that refrained from disclosing their stance on the issue include Aurora, Batavia, Darien, Elmhurst, Geneva, Naperville, Oakbrook Terrace, St. Charles, Warrenville, West Chicago, Wheaton, Wood Dale, Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Burr Ridge, Carol Stream, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove and several others.
Village of Roselle Mayor David Pileski has clarified that the community has not received any requests from Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson or Governor Pritzker regarding the city's illegal immigration crisis. Pileski also highlighted a crucial aspect of Roselle's position – as a non-home rule municipality, the village believes it lacks the legal authority to approve ordinances that impose certain restrictions or regulations related to the migrant issue.
