Lots of people from pasadena village, relatives, my daughter and his parents are there from where i live. Id like to thank my wife from being here. As most of us know, your spouse is the one who picks up, and kept me organized, kept me going and make sure i did not lose too much of the focus i was going for this. So let me get started. The intention of my book is to let you know more about me from the beginning. Before i intended, and the rest of my story starts with when i enrolled in 1969. Eight weeks, american artifacts takes viewers into Historic Sites around the country. The vietnam war started on january 30th, 1968 with we had kong and north Vietnamese Forces attacking without 100 cities, towns and outposts across a broad swath of south vietnam. We visited the news ian in washington d. C. To tour an exhibit on the ted offensive and the battle of weighed, where some of the most intense fighting took place. We speak with john austin about the photos and the experiences in the battle. In 1967, i arrived in vietnam as a u. S. Army draft men. Scientists are coming to vietnam i was a highly motivated photojournalist. In fact, a combat photographer. I ended up with one of the best jobs that one could have in vietnam. A student and photographer for the College Newspaper at the time, one of his photos was used on the cover of life magazine. He has published a book about his experience, moments of truth a photographers experience of kent state 1970. Max thank you all so much for coming out tonight. Tonight, we are hosting the photographer Howard Ruffner who, during his College Years at kent state university, was a photographer for the yearbook and newspaper. His book tonight, moments of truth, is a collection of more than 150 photos around the kent state massacre of 1970 in which four students lives were lost. , ladies and gentlemen, is robert e lee in the postwar years. Teague, askedhuck a this was going to be beatification, did i get that right . And never hit me, but i guess it might, in a way, because i am a fan of robert e lee. Besides giving you a timeline of did in the e. Lee postwar years, and overlooked area of his life, the other main theme i am going to try to get across to you, the park service is that ithemes, wouldnt say he did a lot of work, but his own personal example is probably the best way. Through his own personal example, robert e. Lee tries to reconcile the nation. What a lot of us have forgotten is how far apart the country was in 1865. It is the view of a lot of people that lee surrenders at appomattox and, bam, we will forget about it. We will hold hands and just reunite and continue down that path. Decades,the country some say a century, some say not even yet, for the country to really reunite. I would put the country seriously coming back together in the same vein
