good afternoon. i m stefan chase. i m russ bowen. the first case of zika virus has been confirmed in wake county. cbs north carolina reporter emma wright is live at the wake county health department. what do we know about this first case so far? reporter: we know this person contracted the zika a. the health department says when they got home to north carolina they started to feel sick, had symptoms of the virus, went to the doctor. the doctor tested, that test came back positive. the health department says they ve been carefully monitoring this person. and want to remind people there s no need to panic. the virus still can t be passed from person-to-person. began to proactively prepare for the possibility of the zika virus making its way to north carolina months ago. they say they ve been keeping in close contact with officials about the virus and where it is spreading. associated with birth defects and linked to serious brain abnormalities in babies born to women who
