The news comes just days after Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced the vaccine had been approved by the Islamic republic. “A contract for the purchase and joint production was signed yesterday between Iran and Russia,” envoy Kazem Jalali said, quoted by IRNA. Two more batches are to be delivered by February 18 and 28, he added, without specifying quantities. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei earlier this month banned the use of vaccines made by the United States and Britain, calling them “completely untrustworthy”. ....
COVID-19: Nigerian passengers restricted to Dubai airport Kayode Oyero Dubai Airports, operators of Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates, has released fresh travel conditions for Nigerian passengers. The airport restricted Nigerian passengers from transiting through other airports. The move comes as the United Kingdom on Friday suspended direct flights between the UAE and the UK as part of measures to curb the spread of the raging coronavirus disease. Subsequently, in a statement sent to travel partners, Dubai Airports said amongst other things, passengers from Nigeria can no longer travel through other countries or airports to Dubai. The notice was titled, ‘Dubai Travel Protocol Update –Travel From Nigeria’. ....
Ezekwesili, Ebuka, others mourn Emilia Asim-Ita Olushola Odeyinde Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili; and other Nigerians have mourned the co-founder of The Future Awards Africa and former partner, Red Media Africa, who died on Friday after a brief illness. Asim-Ita, who was in her 30s, was a brand strategist and had worked with many brands, media, and non-governmental establishments. Reacting to her sudden death, Ezekwesili tweeted, “How @emiliaasim? How dear daughter? Moment like this, the Word of our Lord brings comfort. One that speaks of your essence, Emilia is: Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. The UAE Government, in a statement, said the Emirati President, Mohammed bin Rashid, approved that foreign professionals, investors and their families would be allowed to acquire the Emirati nationality under certain conditions. The statement read, “Under the directives of UAE President, Mohammed bin Rashid approves amendments to the Executive Regulation of the Federal Law concerning Nationality allowing investors, professionals, special talents and their families to acquire the Emirati nationality under certain conditions. “The step aims at appreciating the talents and competencies present in the UAE and attracting more bright minds to the Emirati community in a way that contributes to the development and prosperity of the country.” ....

Also impounded during the monthly sanitation exercise were 50 vehicles and 75 motorcycles. The enforcement team, led by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Abdulateef Oyeleke, included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Bashir Olanrewaju; Chairman, Environmental Task Force, Francis Ojomo; Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Ademola Aderinto; Director, Environmental Health Services and the security operatives in the state. In an address at the Bodija Secretariat Road in Ibadan during the sanitation exercise, the Commissioner described the attitude of residents as worrisome, saying engaging in businesses during sanitation exercise is a criminal. ....
