Decouple it from the conversation about reopening the government. nancy pelosi now is trying to take steps to continue to reopen the government but also put pressure on republicans for refusing to go along and do so. what we re going to see this week is all the bills being held up that don t have anything to do with border security. last week, democrats voted to pass them in a block and then kick the can down the road on the homeland security funding. this week, you ll see each bill get brought up one at a time. they re going to get house votes. essentially house democrats saying okay, how do you feel about opening up the department of treasury? hud so people can stay in their homes? so we can make sure ag, so we can administer food stamps and separate this issue out from the border. these will pass the house and then go to the senate and sit there because mitch mcconnell has said he doesn t want to move on anything that the president ....

Won t sign. these bills will continue to put pressure on republicans. and democrats hope split republicans off from the majority leader like it has with susan collins who said this about reopening the government. i can t speak for senator mcconnell but i would like to see him bring the house passed bills to the senate floor. we could reopen much of government where there s no dispute over issues involving certain departments like ag, transportation, housing interior. let s get those reopened while the negotiations continue. those cracks show some political progress but it s probably not enough. the reality is on day 17, we re not in much different of a place politically than we were on day seven. ....
