but what we do know is that republicans are getting in line with mccarthy s show of force, to show joe biden that biden can t go around and negotiate directly with moderates, that this needs to be done through mccarthy. otherwise it could foment some sort of house wide, at least in the gop conference, revolt. but here s what i don t get. big spending is not unique to joe biden or democrats. our national debt ballooned under donald trump. donald trump, who called himself the king of debt, and when he was in office, republicans had no problem raising the debt limit and watching him rack up more and more debt. why do they have an issue with it now? critics of the republicans clearly see that this is because they have an issue with that because president biden is in the white house and is a democrat they can use this as leverage to get other things that they want. we know that under president
each other? another really great question. honestly, republicans have had a fairly slow start after the speakership debacle that push their schedule back a year, or sorry, back a week. they ve been slowed kicking off their congressional oversight investigations, issuing a handful of subpoenas that they ve been promising for over a year now. those first hearings finally happened today and in terms of what the internal dynamics are looking like, i met with a few lawmakers today, republican line lakers, who told me privately that mccarthy is still getting his bearings in terms of how he is navigating and maneuvering the current dynamic. but what we do know is that republicans are getting in line with mccarthy s show of force, to show joe biden that biden can t go around and negotiate directly with moderates, that this needs to be done through mccarthy. otherwise it could foment some sort of house wide, at least in the gop conference, revolt. but here s what i don t get. big spending i
