well, i always take what kevin mccarthy says with a big grain of salt. he may have the votes. we will find out in a couple of hours. what he will have the votes for is a very diminished speakership, one that may not be capable of govern ing their own members. it may lead to government shutdowns. it may lead to defaulting on our national debt. i have grave concerns about just what that speakership will mean. i think the problem kevin mccarthy has had is his own members don t trust him. part of that goes back to january 6 where he did a complete flip-flop supporting the insurrectionists, voting to overturn the election and criticizing donald trump, then going down to mar-a-lago to kiss the ring. people in his own conference don t think he stands for anything beyond himself. that s the problem he is having. what does it say to you, ....

Viewers understand that some of these undecided or these people who have been rebels as far as voting for mccarthy, if they vote present tonight, for all practical purposes, that s a vote for mccarthy. or a polite bowing out to say, we will stay out of the way or keep our powder dry. basically saying, pause in the hostility. let s face it, until next time. as soon as that debt ceiling vote comes along to expand the nation s credit, they are fully prepared to leverage that moment. i want to say one other thing. one talking point i m hearing is to try and recast nancy pelosi s terms as speaker as this kind of toxic, top down thing that was destructive to the house. when, in fact, in a lot of ways, her style of leadership was as much in common with much of the history of the house. this is a model of speakership, ....
