somehow being suspected criminals in some crazy scheme that putin spun. they haven t pushed back on that. we think there was something about a referendum about ukraine. they haven t cleaned that up. that was in the russian press. and there s this alleged deal on syria floating around in the russian press. we don t actually know what the president agreed to on there. the good news always is the rhetoric is always worse than the action. at least as i m concerned. i think the trump administration policy is pretty good on russia, but the president s policy on russia is really horrible. because we don t know what it is and when he says what it is, it tends to be very differential, lavishing praise on putin. frank, you re a trained investigative guy and not a diplomat. having said that, what did you make of putin s nonacceptance of the second summit here in washington?
i can t really compare the two. but this is a case where you know, rudy giuliani is say agwell, believe our transcript because you can t believe what you hear. this is what we run into a little bit with both candidate donald trump and donald trump in the administration right now is they say things and then it turns out that those things are not true and then reporters say hey, but what about the other thing. and they say yeah, no, we re not going to talk about that. it s a strategy we ve not seen in washington work before because most press secretaries and politicians realize getting caught in the lie is usually way worse than whatever it is you re being asked about. so whether it s the president s got a plan to fire the secretary of state or the president dictated misleading statement in his son s name or there s a tape and it shows that the president
