ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Tompkins County residents drawing income from AirBnB’s could be in for a ‘room tax’ increase.
County Planners briefed the legislature this week on a proposed change to the Hotel Room Occupancy Tax. Small lodging establishments, often referred to as AirBNB’s, would see an increase in their room tax from 3 to 5%. If approved by the legislature, the change would go into effect March 1st.
