The Evening Tribune Veteran Republican alderman James M. Bassage, Sr., announced a bid for a sixth term on the Hornell Common Council. Bassage represents Hornell’s 8th Ward. He secured the Republican and Conservative party lines for the Nov. 2 General Election. No Democratic Party or independent party candidate petitions have been filed for the race. Currently, Bassage is the chairman of the Common Council s Parks and Recreation Committee and Policy Committee. He also serves on the Planning & Development and Audit committees. Bassage, 70, calls his 10-year tenure on the city council “rewarding.” “I have developed a good rapport with the mayor, other city council members and department heads at City Hall and together we have been successful in improving the quality of life in the 8th Ward and the City of Hornell,” he added. ....
