Amazon confirms placement of fulfillment center in Amarillo
Officials with Amazon announced plans Thursday to open a new fulfillment center in Amarillo, creating more than 500 new full-time jobs for the area and having an approximate $35 million economic impact on the city when it is expected to open in early 2022.
This comes after the Potter County Commissioners’ Court and the Amarillo City Council approved a tax abatement agreement from the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation among the county, city, Happy Horizons Properties, LP, ET Amarillo LLC and Amazon.com Services LLC.
According to previous Globe-News reports, the fulfillment center will be a new, 1 million-square-foot facility located on 110.39 acres at NE 24th Street and Loop 335. There will be $100 million in capital investment for the facility, with $70 million going toward the building itself and $30 million in equipment. ....

County approves Amazon fulfillment center project tax abatement

During Monday s regular session, the Potter County Commissioners Court approved a tax abatement agreement that aids a process that could yield an Amazon non-sortable fulfillment center here.
Officials indicated the Court s action means Potter County joins in the preceding tax abatement agreement between the City of Amarillo, Happy Horizons Properties, LP, ET Amarillo LLC, and Amazon.com Services LLC.
Project highlights previously noted by the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation include:

Amarillo City Council approves Amazon project initiatives

During Tuesday s virtual regular session the Amarillo City Council approved a trio of agenda items that moved the city closer to finalizing details of a project that could yield an Amazon non-sortable fulfillment center here.
City council members adopted on second reading Ordinance 7901, which designates certain areas of the city as Reinvestment Zone 12 for commercial and industrial tax abatement in the vicinity of NE 24th Street and Loop 335 involving approximately 100.39 acres.
Amarillo Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Kevin Carter previously noted local governments often use tax abatements to attract new industry and commercial enterprises and encourage the retention and development of existing businesses. ....
