Our first guest tonight is from the lincolns cottage, where Abraham Lincoln resided for over a quarter of his presidency. Situated on a hilltop in northwest washington, d. C. , president lincoln made some of his most critical decisions at lincolns cottage. Lincoln visited with winded Wounded Soldiers, spent time with self emancipated men, women and children and drafted the emancipation proclamation. Joan cummins is a public historian, artist and educator. She supports their public facing programming, particularly for students and teachers. This key control center has been occupied by the north vietnamese and viet cong for five years, in blatant violation of cambodias neutrality. This is not an invasion of cambodia. The areas in which these attacks are launched are controlled by north vietnamese forces. Our purpose is not to occupy the areas. Once enemy forces are driven out of these sanctuaries and once there military supplies are destroyed, we will withdraw.
