Petition launched to make Long Sault Parkway bike- and pedestrian-friendly

A petition to improve pedestrian and cyclist access to the Long Sault Parkway was started Monday, and currently has 248 signatures.
According to the authors of the petition at The experienCity Project, it was started after the Victoria Day long weekend saw cyclists and pedestrians packed onto the side of the Long Sault Parkway as motorists drove by.

“Cars need to slow down and there should be enough room on the road for those on bikes, skateboards, walking, etc. to have the space to safely distance. Right now, there is a very small shoulder on the road and no shoulder on the bridges,” said Kelly Bergeron, the project lead of The experienCity Project, in an email. ....

The Raisin Region Conservation Authority, which manages Charlottenburgh Park near Summerstown, has announced online reservations for the campground are now open, as of March 1, and that it’s expected to be another busy season, starting in late May.
Across the region, the process of reserving spots is well underway for numerous facilities, and for Charlottenburgh Park, it’s likely the RRCA will host upwards of 14,000 campers in 2021. ....
