Oregon counties strive for 65% vaccinations to get to category with fewest restrictions

Gov. Kate Brown is letting county vaccination rates dictate which risk level they are in. In order to get into lower risk, the category with the fewest restrictions, 65% of a county s population needs to be vaccinated.
As of Tuesday, that means Hood River County can move to lower risk, but for Clackamas County, that goal is still a bit off.
According to the CDC driven data that Oregon Health Authority gave us this morning, Clackamas currently stands at 52.4% of our target population vaccinated. That is, I think, pretty darn good. I think we’re doing a really good job, said Dr. Sarah Present, health officer for Clackamas County Public Health. Given this, we would need an additional 43,793 people to get their first vaccine to get that 65% target that Gov. Brown just put out for us. ....

PORTLAND, Ore. Counties across Oregon are getting the COVID-19 vaccine to as many eligible people as possible. The methods used in smaller counties are often different than those used in larger metro areas.
Rather than ask residents to spend hours online trying to schedule a vaccine appointment, health workers in Tillamook County are calling residents to schedule appointments by phone. To get that phone call, residents just have to register with the county when their age group is eligible. They can register online or by calling 503-842-3914. ....
