Daikaiju w/Black Valley Moon If Dick Dale ever went punk, he’d push to collaborate with Daikaiju. The Alabama-based quartet remains as enigmatic as possible onstage—rocking kabuki masks and not saying a word every night—but will also light its instruments on fire, drum kit included. Its latest album Phase 3 is loaded with heavy licks and countless drum beats that make every drummer want to practice a little faster for an extra hour or so.
Moon Walker w/Nordista Freeze Moon Walker started off as a way for Harry Springer—a former Colorado musician who moved to California in early 2020—to make a little extra money at the height of COVID-19. But it got to the point where he began writing and recording songs that included thoughts of his that he didn’t want to give away. The ideas came together on a seven-track album entitled Truth to Power, and became a hit thanks to TikTok and endorsement from The Darkness’ Justin Hawkins. But more recently, 24-year-old Springer released his sophomore album, The Attack of Mirrors, described as something spicier and more punk-influenced than the last one.
Chris Farren w/Diners/Mak The 37-year-old Naples man remains one of the nicest dudes in rock and roll, and he’s on the road supporting Doom Singer, a new album produced by Melina Duterte. The Jay Som principal coached Farren into some of his finest work yet.
