GGRAsia – Mohegan to cut debt/EBITDA soon says Moody's

United States-based Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, which controls casino operator Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, is likely to be able to reduce its ratio of debt-to-earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) by the end of fiscal-year 2021, says Moody’s Investors Service Inc.
But the institution added that the parent would in likelihood still have a level of leverage that leaves it with “a high degree of financial risk”. Mohegan Gaming is the promoter of an under-development casino resort called Inspire Entertainment Resort, in South Korea.
Moody’s added: “This risk is compounded by our expectation that there will be continued ongoing operational challenges and earnings and cash flow pressure from efforts to contain the coronavirus, and that there will be a slow recovery to pre-coronavirus volume.” ....

GGRAsia – Moody's upgrades Mohegan Tribal Gaming corporate rating

The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority has had its corporate family rating for debt raised to ‘Caa1’ with a ‘stable’ outlook, from ‘Caa2’, by Moody’s Investors Service Inc. The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority controls United States-based tribal casino operator Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, a group with investment in Asia.
The ratings institution also improved the authority’s ‘probability of default’ rating to ‘Caa1-PD’ from ‘Caa2-PD’.
According to Moody’s, obligations rated ‘Caa’ are “judged to be speculative of poor standing and are subject to very high credit risk”.
Moody’s states that corporate family ratings classified as ‘Caa-PD’, are “judged to be speculative of poor standing subject to very high default risk, and may be in default on some but not all of their long-term debt obligations”. ....

Mohegan Announces Collaboration with Oshidori for Nagasaki Casino Resort Mohegan and Oshidori Collaborate for Nagasaki Casino Resort

Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment and Hong Kong-based Oshidori International Holdings Ltd announced their collaboration in a press release. The two companies will team up for creating a casino resort in the Japanese prefecture Nagasaki.
A representative for Inspire Entertainment Resort announced that an official request was submitted to the local government in regards of the creation of an integrated resort in Nagasaki.
Mario Kontomerkos, Mohegan Gaming’s chief executive said in the press release that his company saw the potential in the collaboration with Oshidori.
He added:
“We are honoured to work with Oshidori International and leverage their team’s unparalleled experience on this IR licence bid in one of the fastest growing markets in the world,” ....

GGRAsia – Mohegan teams with Oshidori for Nagasaki casino tilt

United States-based tribal casino operator Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment has teamed with a Japan unit of Hong Kong-listed Oshidori International Holdings Ltd, for a tilt at creating a casino resort in the Japanese prefecture of Nagasaki, said a joint press release issued on Thursday by the two groups.
The announcement quoted Mario Kontomerkos, Mohegan Gaming’s chief executive, as saying that his firm has considered the “cross-marketing” opportunity between its Inspire Entertainment Resort project in South Korea, and a Nagasaki integrated resort (IR) venture.
“We are honoured to work with Oshidori International and leverage their team’s unparalleled experience on this IR licence bid in one of the fastest growing markets in the world,” Mr Kontomerkos remarked as included in the Thursday release. ....

Three Foreign Companies Interested in Nagasaki IR

According to the Japanese newspaper The Nagasaki Shimbun, three casino resort operators express their interest in establishing an IR in the Japanese prefecture. From those three, two operators is based in the United States and one is in Asia.
At the moment, there is no official comment from the provincial officials on the newspaper report.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, there were three other casino resort operators that declared interest in the summer. They were Japan’s Current Corp; a Japan unit of Casinos Austria International Holdings GmbH; and Hong Kong-listed Oshidori International Holdings Ltd.
In November last year, Tokyo-listed Pixel Companyz Inc said that its main focus is on the Nagasaki prefecture and its pursuit of a Japanese casino licence. For that end, the company gathers a consortium. ....
