Author summary Why was this study done? There have been an increasing number of cases of type 1 diabetes reported following Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccinations. The relationship between receiving COVID-19 vaccines and incident diabetes has not been examined in population-based studies. Several nationwide cohorts reported higher risks of incident diabetes following Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. The risk of incident diabetes following infection by SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants may differ from that following infection by earlier variants.
