NORTHAMPTON Providing Moderna’s vaccine to residents and front-line workers at the VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System in Leeds this week initiated the start of the next phase of protecting the most vulnerable populations from COVID-19 infection.

Holyoke Public Schools close out 2020 with all remote learning, eye hybrid plan rollout in 2021

All public schools and district offices will be closed until Jan. 3.
The school district heeded the advice of Holyoke Health Director Sean Gonsalves, who recommended shuttering all facilities and switching to all remote learning. Staff will have a “short window” to collect materials and allow essential workers to scrub down and sanitize facilities.
“We have made this decision out of an abundance of caution due to rising cases in the City and with our staff, following guidance from the Holyoke Board of Health and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education,” Matos said. ....

AMHERST Buoyed by the success of its fall COVID-19 testing program and bolstered by a $5 million state grant, the University of Massachusetts Amherst began expanded asymptomatic testing Monday.
On the first morning of testing, a light wintry mix fell as a steady stream of people arrived at the Mullins Center. But there were no lines and no waiting, and plenty of space between visitors.
