Organisers of Thornton Cleveleys Gala Committee are reeling after intruders smashed into their storage hut and launched a costly theft and vandalism spree.

Thornton Cleveleys chairman Holly Moorhouse said: It is with a heavy heart that Thornton-Cleveleys Gala Committee must announce that our annual Gala Day will have to be cancelled for the second year. We have been working alongside Wyre Council and the other local gala committees and with the current restrictions still in place we are not able to go ahead this year. This year has been hard for all members of the community, and we look forward to being able to celebrate our 124th year when we return on Sunday June 12 2022. There have been so many unsung heroes over this past year who have put themselves on the front line to support all members of the community and we would like to use our next Gala Day to thank you all.
