Those who knew Charlene âCharlieâ Welch knew she loved two things dearly, caring for her dogs and making cool clothing items for those close to her. The fundraising golf tournament that runs at Markâs Nine Golf and Country Club each year in her honour pays homage to both of those elements. Heading into its eighth annual event, the Charlieâs Angels Golf Tournament has raised over $110,000 toward the Prince Albert SPCA to ensure dogs and cats that Charlie would have loved can be taken care of. âHer fur babies, she probably treated them better than her two-legged babies,â said Holly Abrey-Hare, a tournament organizer and Charlieâs friend. âIf you knew her, you knew her fur babies were her children. She actually passed away from cancer, but we wanted to support the SPCAâ especially now. What can they do for fundraisers? Theyâve come to rely on us and weâre happy to oblige.â ....
