A silica sand mining project will move forward in a community east of Lake Winnipeg and be led by a company that plans to create manufacturing jobs in the solar sector in the Interlake, but some opponents say they're still not confident the work can be done safely.
The Manitoba government is moving forward with a silica sand extraction project in Hollow Water First Nation and a solar glass manufacturing facility in Selkirk, which will create good jobs and advance Manitoba as a leader in clean energy.
